Quarantine survival
It’s the evening before our last practical exam, five days before I get on a train home… When suddenly a text message appears, informing me that my flatmate has Ye Olde Plague COVID. And that is how I ended up celebrating Christmas in my student room. As I am naturally restless and need to keep busy, this was an unwelcome surprise, how do you keep busy when you’re stuck in a room and just finished up the semester ?! Well, I figured it out for you.
- Big Clean up! Honestly, this was necessary anyway as my room was getting rather messy. But cleaning and tidying my room took me a full day. I did all this while enjoying some Netflix. It was a good way to start my quarantine.
- Read books! It has been a loooong while since I’ve had the time to just sit down with a book. This is the perfect opportunity to make a dent in that TBR list!
- Binge a show! Started and finished season 2 of The Witcher. Good stuff.
- Start semester 2! My course has an online module. That won’t do itself, so this is the perfect time to work my way through all that online material, and now I have less to do next semester. You’re welcome future me!
- Crafting and more binge watching! This is the perfect moment to put on some more films and series while crafting away. I started and finished a lovely eagle cross stitch, fixed some trousers, and started up another cross-stitch project. Good stuff right there!
- Make some Christmas decorations! Now that I’m spending Christmas in my room, why don’t I spice it up and make some cute paper garlands? Though honestly… these bored me after one garland. Oops.
- Call friends! No better time to catch up. It’s not often that you have ten days to fill, I’m sure there will be time to call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while and catch up.
- Coloring pages! I have a lovely anatomy coloring book, but it’s a big recommendation! It’s nice to just sit, color and think (or watch a show).
- Write that article! Fix those trousers! Make that project! Yeah, I’m sure there’s some writing task you’ve put off, I know I have some of those. This is your moment to take care of all of them (well, most of them. Procrastination isn’t magically cured with a quarantine, sadly)
- Get into all the paperwork to get your money back from your train / plane you won’t be using. I’m sure I’ll take a while.
Hopefully I’ll never have to spend another 10 days in quarantine, but if I do, I know how to survive!
