How to spend a year and how not to finish it
January 1, 2022 – Many wake up from a hangover or at least exhausted from celebrating last night, ringing the new year, hoping that this year may finally be free from a pandemic. Others will go to a madhouse or train to start their new resolutions.
Not me this year – I got the joy of ending my year with isolation and a rather severe case of food poisoning, as well as severe dehydration and feeling too awful to eat anything for a few days. No fresh air, exercise or food – not exactly my ideal situation – not that I expected anyone to enjoy spending the New Year vomiting.
But really life never goes according to plan, and 2022, I guess, can only go uphill.
According to my end of the year, 2021 was also a bit of an unplanned mess. But despite the fact that it took me only a few days a year to get my head thrown off the bike near the car door, I was too isolated (now I hate being an international student), constantly changing the rules Covid, gap, pressure from the side 4th year and getting a job and a lot of minor glitches along the way, 2021 somehow still managed to become one of my favorite years.
And so until the best of last year in a series of photos, hopefully in 2022 there will be less of the current mess and more of it.
To end this, I wrote here a year ago about my goals for 2021, saying I want to ride 6,000km by bike, run 600km, swim 60km and ride at least 6 new places. I’ve actually managed even more, so next year I’m trying to do 7,000, 700 and 70,000, 20 brand new hikes and at least 10 nights in a tent. Hope you have goals that excite both you and Happy 2022!
